Dutch Apple Cake

A deliciously moist apple and raisin cake warmly spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg and served with coffee ice cream!

Moules Normandes with Homemade herby wedges and salad

Mussels cooked in a bacon, onion, mushroom, apple, cream and white wine sauce (it's supposed to have Calvados in but we didn't have that, tasted great anyway!) served with wedges with lots of mixed herbs, black pepper and paprika, little gem lettuce and balsamic dressing. Quite a little treat - £17.40 per serving at the Belgian Monk, £2.50 each here, ha!

Lentil, lemon and mushroom soup with Roman army bread

A zesty and spicy lentil and mushroom soup - the surprising combination having been nabbed from Roots & Fruits up the road. Served with spelt olive oil and honey bread fresh from the bread maker.

Spanish fish stew on a bed of polenta and salad

Coley and mackerel in a spicy tomato sauce with onions, peppers and olives, infused with lots of paprika. Served on pan-fried cubed polenta and topped with greens.

Moroccan Lamb Burgers with Caramalised Red Onions & Home Made Wedges

Moroccan Burgers (Lamb mince with bread crumbs, cumin seeds, coriander, chilli, diced apricot and date) served with caramalised red onions, spicy home made wedges and salad. Served with Grozet - a Scottish beer infused with Gooseberries, mmm.

Locally produced venison sausages cooked in a juniper, herb and red wine gravy, served with dijon mash and broccoli.

Followed by a Lemon and Almond Sponge with Fig Compote
